Ventriculosubgaleal shunting for spontaneous intraventricular haemorrhage: is it a good alternative to external ventricular drainage?

چکیده
Abstract Background Spontaneous intraventricular haemorrhage (IVH) is a life-threatening condition associated with high morbidity and mortality conventionally managed using external ventricular drain (EVD). However, EVD commonly rate of complications, which necessitates another alternative management comparable or better outcome. This study aims to compare the efficacy safety ventriculosubgaleal shunt (VSGS) compared for adult patients spontaneous IVH. Results A total 48 were enrolled in this study. Twenty underwent 28 had VSGS. Postoperative complications non-significantly more prevalent than VSGS group (75 vs. 64.3%, p = 0.430), including non-CR (20 32.1%), infection 7.1%), blocked catheter (15 3.6%), dislodged (10 7.1%). Convulsions CSF leaks occurred frequently (7.1 vs 5%, 1.000). GCS Graeb’s score between groups ( > 0.05). The higher hydrocephalus after removal (80 53.6%, 0.059) mean GOS 3 months postoperatively (mean score: 4 3). Conclusions as effective safe EVD, lower infection, blocked/dislodged catheters, well reduced incidence hydrocephalus. On other hand, showed at months. these differences did not reach statistical significance.

Intraventricular fibrinolysis versus external ventricular drainage alone in intraventricular hemorrhage: a meta-analysis.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of intraventricular fibrinolysis (IVF) compared with external ventricular drainage alone on mortality and functional outcome in the management of intraventricular hemorrhage secondary to spontaneous supratentorial intracerebral hemorrhage. METHODS The authors conducted a systematic review and performed a meta-analysis....
متن کاملNeuroendoscopic Surgery versus External Ventricular Drainage Alone or with Intraventricular Fibrinolysis for Intraventricular Hemorrhage Secondary to Spontaneous Supratentorial Hemorrhage: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Although neuroendoscopy (NE) has been applied to many cerebral diseases, the effect of NE for intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) secondary to spontaneous supratentorial hemorrhage remains controversial. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of NE compared with external ventricular drainage (EVD) alone or with intraventricular fibrinolysis (IVF) on the managem...

Administration of antenatal corticosteroids to pregnant women with imminent delivery of a newborn at 24 to 34 weeks of gestation represents one of the most important advances in perinatal medicine in the past 25 years1,2. A single course of antenatal steroid has been associated with a decrease in acute neonatal systemic morbidity and mortality after preterm birth reducing the risk of respirator...

متن کاملCorneal reshaping: is it a good alternative to refractive surgery?
PURPOSE OF REVIEW To review current literature on overnight corneal reshaping and present this mode of vision correction in its current state. RECENT FINDINGS Overnight corneal reshaping uses specially designed rigid gas-permeable contact lenses. It is effective in temporarily reducing or eliminating low to moderate myopia. This nonsurgical mode of vision correction allows for good unaided vi...
